A great Children's story about the value of loving ALL animals, including the wild ones. A visit to heaven and the angels at work watching over the animals and the humans living among them. A heart warming story for grieving pet owners also. Wonderfully illustrated by Bonnie Everitt-Hawkes.
Endorsements:
Heavenly Animals is a heartwarming story set in fantasy but rooted in reality. It comes from the heart and will appeal to animal lovers of all ages especially those who, like the author, have lost a pet or cared for a wild orphan. A story set in Heaven where angels with wings work at computers is modern, innovative and refreshing. The excellent illustrations fit the book well.
Lyn Hancock, author of Tabasco the Saucy Raccoon.
What a remarkable story! Katherine McGill has written a book that should warm the hearts and comfort the minds of animal lovers everywhere. I felt every creature that I have loved pulling at my heart – every dog, cat, raccoon, opossum, deer and squirrel that I have cherished. Get it for your children and read it yourself, too. Who could not feel better knowing that our furry and feathered friends do indeed have such an important connection to us? This book, in an easily readable and exciting way, brings hope to our hearts – and for all Humanity.
Priscilla Herochik, R.N.J.D., licensed wildlife rehabilitator and author of The Final War and 3001, Birth of a Political Renaissance.
Dear Ms McGill,
I really enjoyed your book! I like how there is a rule made by humans that you don’t need to love animals and that it’s ok if you break this rule. It is very cool what happens when you break this rule. I really liked the part when the woman named Mary helps the opossum babies. Another thing I liked was how there was an organization for the animals when a human does the opposite.
Sincerely, Chloe S. (5th grade, Canada)

About the Author After 28 years in the equestrian industry, Katherine McGill experienced a life turn towards the joys, and struggles, of urban wildlife. Living between Florida and Colorado she became entrenched in how to resolve the overwhelming myths and confusion people have about the wild animals living in their backyards. Today’s society, unlike our ancestors, has little knowledge of animals beyond domestic pets. Too often information from the media, health agencies, and even wildlife agencies, is exaggerated and lacks proper perspective. Katherine strives each day to learn about our backyard wild animals and to educate others on how to co-exist with them in harmony, how to properly help them, and when not to help. Her favorite animal is the raccoon, she says, for it is “downright the most intelligent and amusing animal she has ever known”.

WANTED: Your stories for the next book!
The question of whether animals (which certainly include wild animals) feel emotions, experience pain, curiosity or such is only a question to someone who has never known an animal. To even ponder for a moment if a raccoon is capable of 'curiosity' is ludicrous! The most important question, 'do they suffer', has been answered.
Studying raccoons, researching scientific data as to their intelligence, their evolution, their health and well being is my passion. Indeed, Zorra and many raccoon kits I have raised for release over the years have taught me so much, but pursuing all I can learn on any given day keeps me intrigued.
The basic idea for my next book is to be a collection of beneficial, personal research, and to share stories of personal experience - YOURS! Each story used in the book will be credited to the source, if they so wish, or may be kept 100% anonymous. I know there are many people out there with 'illegal' pets and I could never jeopardize (or risk what happened with Zorra) anyone!
Please accept this invitation to email your stories, input, anything you wish to share with other raccoon and wildlife fans.
Over the last many years, too many state wildlife agencies are turning away from educational and informative information on the wildlife that lives amongst us every day. For this reason, I am certainly never opposed to hearing and learning more about the fox, skunk, opossum, coyote... Anything you wish to share is welcomed!
Email: SunChaserInc@aol.com Please be sure to put "wildlife" or such in the header. Look forward to hearing from you!
PS - The novel "SunChaser...For the love of a horse and a raccoon" is on hold at this time.
